I am obsessed with Yveltal. It’s so cool. I hate when people use legendaries on their teams, but god damn it, I’m going to have no choice this time around. IT’S BEAUTIFUL.

Xerneas is just Dialga with some antlers. That’s right, I said it.

Chespin is definitely a porcupine. I still don’t like it. Grass starters are reptiles. IT’S THE LAW.

 Froakie. I cringed while typing that. Its name is straight-up awful. Really? A combination of the words “frog” and “croak”? That’s all you’ve got? Phonetically, it just sounds unpleasant. It also strikes me as a slang term for some sort of sex act. “Yeah man, I gave that girl a froakie.” Once we get past the name: this little guy is sort of cute. I don’t quite understand the white circles on its face, but I’m going to go ahead and assume that they’re supposed to be nostrils. My speculation is that it’ll become a water/flying type as it evolves. Also, to me, its color scheme paired with the cloudlike puff on its back is sort of reminiscent of Swablu/Altaria.

 Fennekin. Again, not the most creative of names - “let’s just slap ‘kin’ on the end of a variant of the word ‘fennec’ and hope no one notices.” It’s clearly a fennec fox, which I LOVE. I love it so much that I’m willing to overlook the fact that there has already been a fire-fox in the Pokemon world. I picture those ear tufts growing into elegant tendrils that cascade down its back or behind it in the air in a Suicune-esque manner. My instincts are telling me that it’ll become a fire/psychic type, but that would just be too good to be true.

 Chespin. I just don’t… understand. You look like the illegitimate lovechild of a furret and drilbur. You’re not fooling anyone with that hat, you grass-type poser. What are you? A squirrel? A mole? I can’t help but expect this guy to become a grass/ground type. Pokemon Company, I am disappointed.

The Y-styled legendary is superior to the X-style one, in my opinion. It looks like a vulture dragon reaper of souls, whereas the stag is nothing more than a dialga-sawsbuck hybrid.

I AM SO PUMPED FOR GAMEPLAY. Overall, this is really exciting. And I’ll never have to look at chespin because I’m choosing fennekin.
